The recycled polyester holds warmth and dries faster than a heavy wool knit if it picks up snow. The spandex gives the knit just enough stretch to shape around your head and spring back when you pull it off. The cuff folds up for a double layer across the ears on the coldest days, or you can wear it long and let it sit softer at the back of the neck.
